Bob Marley (6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981) Jamaican reggae singer/songwriter/guitarist and committed Rastafarian, who started out with the Wailers in 1963. His distinctive song writing and vocal style were soon recognised and revered around the world.
He was named Pop Musician of the Year in 1967, Artist of the Year in 1968 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
The sweater, in bold Rastafarian colours, features a knitted interpretation of one of the photographs used to promote his song One Love, with the design Leaves by Bill Walker as the background. The face is irresistibly joyful so I called it Joy.
